With oil reserves and ecological environment deterioration, the energy crisis and environmental pollution have become the most popular concerned hot sports nowadays. And because of the decrease of the car that causes oil reduced and environmental pollution. Therefore the research of alternative fuel engine causes more and more attention. Because of its clean, efficient, economical performance and extensive source, methanol gets the praise highly of people in recent years. Currently methanol has already widely applied to gasoline engines, but relatively less to diesel engine. Based on the research home and abroad, of the diesel fuel methanol, the development of fuel methanol and application on engine are studied deeply in this paper, the detailed structure of the thesis is listed as follow:Firstly, the advantage of development of methanol diesel is analyzed, then the difference in chemical and physical and combustion aspects between methanol and diesel is discussed, and according to the results, some improvement methods for application of methanol in diesel engine are put forward, including fuel modification and the transformation of engine to fit for methanol fuel. The solubility of methanol and diesel is further research in the article. The mixing of surfactant is more conducive to the emulsion of methanol and diesel, the results is better than single emulsifier from additive amount or from stable time. What is more, adding cosurfactant or water can better helps the diesel fuel emulsify.This paper is based on constructing a methanol diesel engine performance with test bench, completed dual-fuel engine test on the Clouds 4100QBZL diesel engine. The article mainly studied the power performance decreased while the economy is better.Emissions like CO, HC,, smoke when the amount of methanol additives is small, decreased evidently, but NOx emission increases; on the contrary, when the amount of methanol additives is more, there is no obvious drop in emissions and even higher than diesel, when there is a big amount of methanol in methanol diesel, NOx emissions will drop; Emissions of CO2 will reduce with methanol's increasing.
