Study On Mix Design Of Fiber Asphalt Chip Seal

Fiber asphalt chip seal which is a new preventive maintenance method in China that adopt fiber asphalt chip seal core equipment sprinkle modified emulsified asphalt, fiber and modified emulsified asphalt simultaneously, then sprinkle aggregate on the on the existing road, and finally press by glue wheel road roller to acquire the early strength. The technology for road maintenance have a high wear resistance, high water resistance, high stability, easy handling and a series of excellent performance.There are not any technology prescriptions of its application area, structure and properties of materials, mix design, construction technology, pavement performance evaluation, quality management in correlation criteria at present. The mix design method of fiber asphalt chip seal is still based on traditional experience method, its random and uncertainty character will result in reducing pavement performance of fiber asphalt chip seal or wasting materials. Construction technology and quality control copy similar criterion. So mix design and related research for Fiber asphalt chip seal have strong practical significance.This article firstly put forward technical performance tests and the relevant technical requirements for the raw materials of fiber asphalt chip seal, asphalt, emulsifiers, modifiers, fiber, stone, based on measurement, changing the type of emulsifier and dose, the type of modifier and dose, oil-water ratio produced 36 different proportions of modified asphalt emulsion. And at last according to the standard modified asphalt emulsion viscosity, evaporation residue softening point, ductility of the three technical indicators select 7 kinds modified asphalt emulsion most suitable for Zhejiang province fiber asphalt chip seal.By changing the spraying amount of 7 kinds emulsified asphalt, crushed stone spread quantities, fiber spread quantities to produce different proportions of fiber asphalt chip seal, after shear test, clean test to determine the most suitable fiber asphalt chip seal mix for Zhejiang province. During road paving the trial process and relevant tests after the completion have proved this mix for fiber asphalt chip seal meet the construction requirements, road performance requirements.This paper provide flow chart for fiber asphalt chip seal fiber mix design, Key Construction Technology, pavement performance indicators test, making the new conservation technology as well as a nationwide promotion received technical support.
