According to SGCC's deepening the guiding ideology of power management, the company's power supply units at all levels are actively building automatic meter reading system (AMRS). The promotion of automatic meter reading system will replace the traditional manual meter reading, thereby reducing management costs, expanding business scope. Energy meter as an equipment of automatic meter reading system is the main data source and collection objects. Whether energy meter's function is perfect and communication protocol is correct, it will directly affects the success rate of reading and data's authenticity. Energy Meter Communication Test System (here in after referred to as test system) make energy meter as the main test object, carried out in line with the low-level communication protocol testing, and meter's function testing. Test system can be used for product certification in the authoritative testing organizations, for inspection before installation in Power Company or for product's developing and debugging in Meter Company.This article based on full knowledge in domestic and overseas status quo and development trend for the technology of automatic meter reading, analyzed the demand for practical test work, and determine the final target of test system. In accordance with the demand analysis and business processes, dividing software functional modules, building data structure, drawing up test methods. The design principles of Software followed is "complete examine, flexible framework, easily operation".The article analyze several problem such as testing for communication protocol, data identifier classification, expanding test item consistency test method, find the best solution, and highlighting software's innovation and practicability.
