Development Of Power System Communication Protocol Converter

Due to the characteristics of electric power production, information exchange between power plant, substation and dispatching center only through remote communication to achieve. In order to solve the interoperability between intelligent devices of different communication protocol of the telecontrol system, based on the detailed analysis of the basis of CDT91, IEC60870-5-101, IEC60870-5-104and other commonly used electric power communication protocol, we designed a new protocol converter based on EM9360core board and WINCE embedded real-time operating system. The hardware part introduces the general structure of the new protocol converter, emphatically describes the circuit design of asynchronous serial port, Ethernet, CAN bus communication interface part, and designed watchdog, GPS clock circuit etc.to improve the reliability of system. The software part adopts hierarchical, modular design method, by the management procedures, service procedures, configuration procedures cooperate with each other to complete the whole function of the system. Management procedures part introduces the boot process of system, and the process communication methods between the three procedures. Service procedures part introduces the hierarchical design method of program and memory real-time database based on the equipment, and the principle of the data mapping method of protocol conversion, finally analyzes operating process of service program. In addition, also introduced the configuration procedures of embedded protocol converter, described the interactive method of configuration procedures and protocol converter, as well as the reasons of use XML language to organize all the configuration parameters. The protocol converter can achieve a variety of downlink and uplink protocols conversion, it can be used in digital substation based on IEC61850after some improvement.
