Magneto-rheological(MR) fluids are used as a new type of smart material.,whose rheological properties have drastic changes on a certain external magnetic field ,and the viscosity of them will increase several orders of magnitude,and become solidified state. But in the absence of applied magnetic field, MR fluids exhibit common Newtonian-like behavior. And through the control of the external magnetic field the"curing" reaction is continuous and reversible. Therefore, by virtue of their responsive, continuous, reversible and by the features easy to control with computer technology, magnetorheological fluids have become the main direction of material development, which is one hotspots of the smart materials and institutions in the world.MRF drive device is a mechanical device which relies on the"curing"characteristics of the MRF material,and relies on the shear yield stress produced by MRF on certain external magnetic field.When in the absence of applied magnetic field, MRF only pass torque generated by General viscous resistance;when the certain external magnetic field are applied, the magnetic particles in MRF form chains along the magnetic field distribution,and when there are different speeds on the both side of the transmission, will cute chains,to produce a larger shear yield stress,then they will pass enough large torque. Because of the characteristics of magnetorheological fluid itself, the torque can be adjusted continuously by changing the current during working. So we know MRF equipment has many advantages such as putting out a stable torque, simple structure, easy to be controlled, long working life, etc.This article is based on magnetorheological fluid rotating device as the research object,and improves the structure of the MRF Transmission.we analyze the transfer way of MRF,and based on the constitutive equations of MRF,we have establish the transmission torque equation under the different shape of follow plate.and based on these,we design various MRF clutch.In this paper,we have establish finite element simulation model of the MRF clutch .and analyze the effect of the MRF clutch's follow plate surface shape on the transmission torque:we have simulated three different kinds of disk surface(conclude the surface of cone,sphere and ladder). The sample of transmission components has been done.,and the devices, appurtenances are chosen for the experiment. Build the platform used in our experiments; experiment's scheme is set up, the related data is tested, a comparison between the experimental results and theoretical analysis is given, and we discuss the cause of error and conducted on the error correction . our study can provide a theoretical basis for industrial application.
