Large and medium bus industry developed independently at a late time in China, so clutches in bus used which is of truck, and without special researches on clutches so far. In recent years, because of the policy of national industry and environmental protection, power mass rate of large and medium bus increased graduately, engine power raised, environmental condition of clutch was worsen, resulted in clutch turn the weakest part in bus.In this article, the author analysised many troubles of certain type bus clutch with the method of statistical and analysis, and found two major causes which are overheating and resonance of clutch resulted in batches fault of clutch. The research fields as following:1) FEA(finite element analysis) was used in analyze the static analysis of the clutch driven plate of certain type bus, and results showed the way to install the clutch facings is defective.2) FEA was used in modal analysis of clutch driven plate, calculated natural frequency, compared exciting frequency of main harmonic excitation in normal working condition of engine, exciting of main harmonic component won't initiate resonance of driven plate, demonstrated resonance which initiated shake when starting and break down of absorber has nothing to do with natural frequency of driven plate.3) A-L formula was used in check of load deformation character in clutch diaphragm spring, confirmed design number of reserve factor is less, calculated work of slipping of clutch in special work, calculated thermal load of clutch by FEA, got the nephogram of tempreture field of clutch platen in special work condition, displayed that thermal load was over standard of clutch in general work condition.4) Checking the external character of engine in certain type bus on engine test-bed, and compared the design of clutch again according to the results. The external character diverged from design number of engine resulted in the work of slipping increase, and overheating of clutch.According to the theoretical analysis and experimental results, it is targeted for the optimization of the clutch, the engine is designed for power, Re matching of vehicle power transmission system. To put forward certain type bus clutch mass failure solution.The research method to clutch troubles of certain type bus in this article is different from previous way. This article solved product quality crisis that many enterprises faced, applied a mirror for designing new product, which has an importance for enterprise solving other quality problem in product.
