Investigation Of Parametric Design Methods For Architecture With Complicate Shapes

Computer technology is the dominator of our life today, by which contemporary architecture to represent the zeitgeist has been deeply affected. In this context parametric design is going into architecture field.Parametric design appears its technology property firstly as a tool to be benefit to architect's thinking. Then it influences architecture design methodologically by bring"bottomup"into design process. The most important parametric design leads a kind of new natural design concept. High efficiency, new methods and new design concept are what architecture received. On the other hand parametric design as a kind of medium is transmitting complexity science theory which is highly concerned since the 60th 20 century to architects, which brings some fresh air.Architect's work pattern changes accordingly, the focus from manufacture transfer to designing rules, from result to process. A new work pattern is a kind of power to promote architects updating their knowledge structure. Computer as an effective tool to design rules will be deeply use by architects through mastering computer language such as VB, C or some parametric design software. Rule connecting architects and architecture form is to become the most important thing in architecture design. And rule itself represent architect's concept.This paper bases on the practices of author and the third work studio of architecture design and research institute of SCUT, using Rhino grasshopper parametric platform to research complex form diversification and deliver a concept: parametric design is a kind of perception of modern architecture design.
