From the 21st century, the shortage of traditional energy and environmental pollution become the major problem of restricting the development of economic. So searching for pollution-free resources becomes more and more urgent. As a clean and renewable power source, solar energy gets much more attention. According to the forecast, solar energy will take a 20% share in the energy framework in 2050, and this proportion will increase to 70% in 2100. This shows the energy framework will takes big changes in this century and solar energy will become the primary source of energy. Nowadays, Photovoltaic has been a new fast-developing industry, and it has a bright future.This paper introduced homojunction, heterojunction, schottky solar cells and monocrystalline silicon, polycrystalline silicon, amorphous silicon, compounds solar cells from solar cell's structure and material, elaborated the principle and the basic structure of solar cell, discussed in detail the electrical properties of solar cell as well as important parameters, analyzed the factors that impact the efficiency of solar cell. Then this article explained each segment of the solar cell industry chain:from sand to metallurgical silicon, from metallurgical silicon to semiconductor grade silicon, from semiconductor grade silicon to monocrystalline silicon wafer, from monocrystalline silicon wafer to solar cell, from solar cell to solar module, from solar module to PV system. What's more, it introduced grid-connected system, stand-alone system and hybrid system and their own characteristics and pros and cons.In the whole industry chain of the solar cell industry chain, the most important segment is the technology of solar cell production. This paper cite monocrystalline silicon solar cell as an example, studied each sections of solar cell production:making texture, diffusion, etching, depositing the antireflection coating, screen printing and firing, and the important technical parameters in detail. The final test result shows that most of the cells' efficiency is over 17.5%. It indicates that in the light of the technical parameters in this paper, we can obtain monocrystalline silicon solar cells with good performance. With practice, finally it presents some recommendations in reducing fragmentation rate and improving production efficiency.
