The row-lock cavity wall is a traditional wall of our country, which has been largely used for the construction of Residential housing since the Ming Dynasty and at present, there are a lot of rowlock cavity wall housing in the majority of our towns and villages. Because of the various reasons of the construction and use, the row-lock cavity wall usually has the low-strength mortar especially in the vast rural areas. The low-strength mortar will influent the strength of the wall directly, and further influent the structural bearing capacity of the row-lock cavity wall. Therefore, to study the seismic performance and the strengthening method of the low strength row-lock cavity wall is of great significance.High performance ferrocement laminate(HPFL) is a new strengthening method which need to imbed the shear dowel on the strengthened matrix material in order to ensure the common effect of high performance ferrocement laminate and the original structural member.Inorder to study the common effect performance of the strengthened matrix material and the mortar bond interface and use the high performance ferrocement laminate in brick masonry,our studying team have done some experimental study of inorganic embedded-bar in the early. Through the pull-out test on concrete and brick masonry,we verified the bond performance of inorganic embedded-bar adhesive, and analyzed the influence to the effects of bond performance by different steel types,diameter and embedded depth.Besides, we mainly carried out a low cyclic loading test on the six row-lock cavity walls which strengthened with HPFL.During the text, we got the crack's spread process of the wall and the crack's distribution form when the wall destruct,cracking load,ultimate load,horizontal displacement,hysteretic curve and so on. Results from experiments show that the strengthening method of high performance ferrocement laminate is economical and effective. At last, based on the experiment, we combined the theory of brick masonry's shear strength to mainly study the calculation method of the shear strength of the row-lock cavity wall strengthened with HPFL. Through the experimental result and theoretical analysis, the capability of seismic shear formula of the row-lock cavity wall strengthened with HPFL is presented. The formula coincides well with the experimental results, can be used in practice projects.
