Earth-rock dam is one of the most common hydraulic structures which allows poor geological conditions, and its cost is not very high. Numerous earth-rock dams have been established in China, therefore more and more people have been engaged in the research of this type of dam. In the study of the dam, the safety is always considered as the most important factor, so the seepage of the dam is the worst ones. Therefore, the dam's seepage problem has drawn increasing attention from the community. The research of seepage and seepage control projects are directly related to the project cost and safety. Many destructions and broken projects are almost due to the deficiencies of seepage control design and construction from home and abroad. In China, there are many reservoirs built in the fifties to the seventies, most of which are small reservoirs. At that time, because of the poor condition of economy and technology, most of them were built by simultaneous designing and survey. After years of running, many reservoirs are dangerous, it is necessary to retest them and do some necessary assessments and reinforcements. The seepage analysis and the slope stable analysis on new established dam are indispensable. This article uses large-scale finite element analysis software named ANSYS to analyze the satiability of the dam on two dimensions. And the Canadian company GEO-SLOPE SLOPE / W software were used to analyze the stability of the slope. The outcomes of this article will facilitate to the fast and convenient simulation and analysis of small dams. It will be useful to the slope problems as well.
