With the rapid development of urbanization in China, the buildings of traditional Chinese characteristics are facing the danger of being replaced by the modern buildings and even disappeared gradually. In recent years, in order to protect the characteristic buildings, carry forward the traditional architectural culture, the technology of rapid and automatic modeling of featured buildings (group) has become one of the major research focus in the field of computer-aided design and virtual reality. In this dissertation, the key issue of the Chinese traditional building modeling——automatic modeling of road is discussed.Firstly, we introduced the characteristics and styles of Chinese traditional building, and research history of virtual city modeling and featured buildings modeling is reviewed, and the advantages and disadvantages of the algorithm are analyzed in Chapter 1. Then the basic steps of the automatic modeling of big scale featured buildings are introduced, and an important part of the virtual city modeling——the automatic generation algorithm of the virtual streets are reviewed high lightly. And then by expanding L systems theory, using the method of elevation map and automatic river identification we studied and proposed the automatic generation algorithm of the city road under complex terrain conditions. Experimental results show that our method can generate varying styling streets modeling under complex terrain constraints, such as undulating terrain and rivers enriching the research content of virtual city road modeling. Lastly, the author summarized and analyzed the road shape feature of the villages in southern Anhui residential and proposed a Voronoi-based path generation algorithm which can effectively compensate for the defects caused by the fact that the roads generated by L system lack change.
