Electric power steering system (also known as EPS) is one of the research highlights and cutting-edge technologies in today's power steering technology fields. EPS is a new type of power steering system. Compared with the traditional hydraulic power steering system, EPS has many advantages. It can not only achieve precise steering, reducing the disturbance of the system caused by the uneven surface, but also provide the best help in various kinds of traffic operating conditions and have energy-saving, environmental protection merits, etc. As a key technology of measuring the performance of an electric forklift, steering performance has a great impact on flexible working of the forklift. Therefore, the research work of EPS control system for electric forklift has great theoretical and practical significance.This paper firstly introduces the overall composition and working principle of the EPS system, and then illustrates its constituent parts of the structure and working principle in detail. Based on an in-depth analysis of the two major control strategies in EPS system, the thesis's assist characteristic curve determined the target current, and tracked the current and carried out simulation analysis of system performance by using fuzzy PID control strategy. The overall system of the EPS control scheme was designed according to its working principle and performance requirements for Electric forklift, and its hardware platform in EPS control system designed by using rich hardware resources of Philips LPC2131 microcontroller, which included the core control module circuit design, Signal acquisition and processing module, H-bridge power driver and front-drive circuit module, relay protect module, etc., and carried out anti-jamming-related design. Finally, the project of software design in EPS control system was presented with completion of its modular design.
