Scenic Beauty Estimation Of 4 Types Of Green Space In Nanjing

In this paper, almost 350 samples from four types of green space in Nanjing such as scenic spots, parks, roads and squares are considered subjects of survey; Scenic Beauty Estimation (SBE) Method is used to measure their aesthetic values. The samples of high SBE in one year have been analyzed and reviewed, the characteristics of their plant disposition are summarized. Then the scenic beauty models about these four types of green space were developed. The results showed that:(1) Value of scenic beauty of the same sample in different period of the year showed that the landscape in spring and autumn are better than that in summer, and winter landscape is the worst. Consequently, winter landscape should be improved by some measures such as the augment of evergreens and deciduous trees with beautiful stem form and the emphasis of sense of space and layering.(2) The qualitative analysis of the sample with high SBE in the year showed that the more harmonious and natural collocation of plants and other landscape elements, the higher degree of scenic beauty they get; the plant species with a rational shrub-grass allocation and coordinated proportion of evergreen, deciduous, colorful foliage has a high SBE; the landscape with outstanding structure, spatial sequence and contours has a high SBE; the landscape focusing on embodiment of cultural aesthetic conception has a high SBE.(3) The multivariate regression models between scenic beauty of four types of green space and different aesthetic factors indicated that other significant non-forest factors contributed most to scenic beauty model of scenic spot, the second one is spatial hierarchy, and the last one is colour change of plant; the other significant non-forest factors still played the most important roles in the scenie beauty model of park green space, the second one is crown form of master trees, the last one is spatial hierarchy; in the scenie beauty model of square green space, also the factors of other significant non-forest are the paramount, the second one is constitution type of trees, and the last one is colour change of plant; colour change of plant contributed most to scenic beauty model of road green space, the second one is spatial hierarchy, and the last one is the factor that constitution type of trees.
