Tianjin Port is a large artificial harbor built on the oozy beach. The paper focus onthe analysis of the origin of Tianjin Port sediment, the characteristic of the accretionsediment, the distribution of intensity and the evaluation about the extent of accretion,from which the result obtained indicated that Tianjin Port has been seen as a lightsilting-up port, the all year round maintenance of water depth is to ensure the designstandards for navigable.Due to the contradiction between production and dredging, the absence of mudlying land, the imbalance of siltation time and space, and the impact of dredging onthe environment etc., it is difficult for the single mode if dredging worked fortraditional and static maintenance of water depth worked to ensure water depth for allday navigable of Tianjin port, ranging from 10 thousand-ton to 300 thousand-ton.Dynamic maintenance of water depth is a new concept and a new model for deepwaters against serious silt. The paper summarized the relative outcomes of studies onthe Tianjin Port sedimentation. With the gradual improvement of the port of sedimentenvironment and reasonable port planning, siltation situation will be further improved,With regard to the disadvantages of maintaining a static water depth, the feasible andeffective means of dynamic maintenance of the water depth were developed such asthe application of appropriate depth for navigable, the well proposed rising of depth,the water depth point of treatment etc., and the paper focused on the summary andanalysis of its working principle and application in recent years.In addition, the paper discussed principles and constraints of dynamic maintenanceof water depth, the adjustment for types of dredging ships and ways is done accordingto the requirements of Tianjin Port and the characteristics of dynamic maintenance.Compared with the static maintenance, the dynamic maintenance solved thecomplicated problems such as limitations of regular dredging, the more important isobvious economic benefits and economization on the cost of investment on dredging.
