Building with first floor overhead could promote the visibility of landscape, make the natural ventilation fluent, improve the outdoor thermal environment, indirectly reduce the energy consumption of air conditioning, and adapt to the humid and hot climate better.This paper studies on the first floor overhead space, which is particularly widely used in the roadside building. Focusing on the evolvement, development and current research on the first floor overhead space, the paper firstly summarizes the situation and problems of the design of the first floor overhead space in roadside buildings.Secondly,based on the investigation on the spot,it proposes the research model of the first floor overhead space in roadside building in view of the spatial scale on city planning, architecture design and interior design. Finally,the paper demonstrates that different designs of the first floor overhead space have different impacts on the improvement of thermal environment.The research process is mainly divided into four parts:Part one introduces the form and evolvement of the first floor overhead space at home and abroad,expounds the current research and summarizes the quantitative designing standards and the designing factors impacting on natural ventilation of first floor overhead space.Based on these, the research scope has been confined.Part two puts forward the space models to the research object: street canyon overhead model, the roadside first floor overhead model on commercial and residential buiding,and the first floor interior overhead model.The third part comes up with the environment evaluation indexes on the first floor overhead space.The ventilative environment evaluation indexes include indoor and outdoor evaluation. Based on them, the author summarizes the simple wind environment evaluation standard on the first floor overhead space.The last part simulates the natural ventilation and construction energy consumption on the first floor overhead models with the CFD and DeST.Based on the result of the ventilative environment simulation and construction energy consumption,through analysing the applicability of different designing methods of roadside first floor overhead, the paper is practically significant for improving the thermal environment of city roadside buildings and the energy saving designs.
