With the rise of highway class and automobile travel speed, high demands are put forward to highway design. People pay more and more attention to comfortableness of highway use. Highway alignment design is to meet the driving requirements of motor vehicles as the basic premise, the design must meet the vehicle's driving characteristics, to ensure the basis of motor cars and mechanics, focusing on flat, vertical linear combination of the three-dimensional design to meet the safety and comfortableness requirements.The article puts forward comfortableness evaluation of the highway alignment design, from the point of the status that the alignment evaluation methods at home and abroad basically from the perspective of the safety to consider, based on the people-oriented design concept in depth. Nowadays the study of comfortableness are mostly from the area of vehicles research, and the roads research are only from plane or vertical section to evaluate, but not from the plane and vertical combination to analysis comfortableness. The vehicles driving on the curve, its lateral acceleration will change as time changes, and this change is the result of three aspects which is the flat, vertical, horizontal. In order to ensure driving safety and comfortableness, it is necessary to study vehicle traffic's lateral acceleration rate. Based on the factors effecting comfortableness and vehicle traffic situation analysis, this article proposes the lateral acceleration rate model which has considered plane, vertical and horizontal three aspects, and propose valuating the index value, determines the parameters value of the model, then describes the application of the evaluation method in conjunction with the test section at the end.The main achievements of the article are that it analyzes and establishes the lateral acceleration rate model which has considered the plane,vertical and horizontal three aspect, by means of some rational methods, realizes the quantization evaluation of the index , and provides a certain reference value for the comfortableness evaluation of the highway alignment.
