Electromagnetic launch is a device of launching payloads by using electromagnetic force. It transforms electromagnetic energy into mechanical energy (kinetic energy), driving load by electromagnetic force acting. Therefore, it is also an energy converter or a special electrical driving device. In nature, it is a special linear motor.This technology, launching objects by using electromagnetic force instead of powder, can overcome the limitations of powder and rocket launchers, improve the speed of the objects leaving shell, increase the kinetic energy when it leaving shell, and reduce the cost of each launch. Furthermore, shooting without sound, no smoke and no muzzle flame, it has a good shot hidden. In today's condition that the voice of nuclear arms control is growing, it's more important and of significance to study the technology of electromagnetic launch.In this paper, we propose three different current types of emission methods combined with electromagnetic emission technology. According to their different emission characteristics and the characteristic of pistol, we choose reluctance coil electromagnetic emission for our research program. Via our research on the emission mechanism of helical coil electromagnetic pistol, we propose the design criteria of three subsystems power supply, projectile components and drive coil, and then simulation is generated to analyze the static and dynamic electromagnetic properties of helical coil pistol. Besides, we design a new high efficiency helical coil electromagnetic pistol test system for the purpose of improving emission speed and efficiency based on the advantages of ferromagnetic projectiles. Experimental results verify the theory and simulation analysis mentioned above.Specific contents are as follows:1. We Mainly study the working mechanism of helical coil electromagnetic pistol to establish the dynamic equations and equivalent circuit model, and then we get the analytical solution of constant acceleration of shot. Based on the theoretical analysis, we presented the design criteria of system including power supply, projectile components and drive coil.2. Maxwell 2D module and Matlab / Simulink software are used to simulate features of static and dynamic electromagnetic field of the spiral coil electromagnetic pistol, and obtain the best structural parameters of the spiral coil electromagnetic pistol under the premise of the maximum exit velocity.3. Based on the theoretical derivation and simulation analysis, a new type of highly efficient electromagnetic coil gun experimental system is designed. The basis for later simulation analysis and technical improvement is provided by analyzing the current of driving coil and projectile velocity in different experimental conditions.
