To satisfy the engineering requirement of X-ray grazing incidence telescope research and development, this paper studies image quality evaluation methods of X-ray grazing incidence telescope. Geometrical optics methods, aperture diffraction analysis method, linear system approaches for scattering surface analysis and TRA equations for mirror rigid-body movement errors are elaborated in this paper. An optical analysis software was developed and can be used to calculate the individual point spread function under influences of geometrical aberrations, aperture diffraction, surface scattering phenomena and mirror rigid-body movement errors, such point spread functions are GPSF, ADPSF, SSPSF and RSEPSF. Based on the linear system theory, all these functions will be convolved to obtain the aerial image in the focal plane. In the design and processing stage, this software can analyze and evaluate the image quality of telescope; in the calibration test stage, with surface profile (ACV or PSD) as input, this software can analyze the performance of the telescope.In this paper we use this software to analyze the performance of the X-ray grazing incidence telescope which is being developed. According to comparison of SSPSF on different value of surface roughness, we get a rational optical manufacturing tolerances; ADPSFs on different obscuration ratio indicate that aperture diffraction effects can be ignored; with input parameters including obscuration ratio, X-ray wave length, grazing angle, field of view, surface roughness rms, L-F polynomial, and the telescope design parameters, we use this software to calculate the individual PSFs, FEEs and system's synthesized APSF, FEE. These analyzed data and results are important introductive for the research and development of X-ray grazing incidence telescope.
