For corn transplanting cultivation methods, the existing one for corn transplanting high speedis corn bowl growing, but the seeding operation of the transplanted corn seedling growing discmainly uses artificial seeding method. In order to solve the disadvantages of the artificialseeding and meet the corn bowl growing seedling agronomic requirements, this paper designs akind of nest hole drum type metering device as the core components of the corn pot seedlingtray seeder.This paper is described in detail the working principle and process of the planter, accordingto the selected of corn seed size characteristics to determine the corn seed selection conditions,and determine the design basis of nest hole size. Through the analysis of the relationshipbetween the seed in seed filling, remove seed, the process of throwing seed and nest hole drum,the main structure parameters of the relevant parts were selected. The virtual prototypingmethod is used to model the whole machine and the rationality of the structure design isverified. According to the virtual prototype, the physical prototype was developed and theorthogonal experiment was carried out, the optimum combination of the factor level of theorthogonal test was verified.Orthogonal test that the sequence of primary and secondary factors that influence the qualityof seeding: seeder operating speed is more than nest hole depth and less than nest hole diameter,the factors and levels of optimal combination: nest hole diameter is12.5mm, nest hole depth is6.5mm, seeder operating speed is100mm/s. The optimal combination scheme was validated test,test results consistent with orthogonal test, corresponding results: average sowing pass rate is90.4%, average replay rate is6%, average leak sowing rate is3.6%. The results showed that thiscorn bowl growing tray planter effect in line with national standards, and meet the corn bowlgrowing seedling agronomic requirements.
