Through the measurement of amino acids and by the Scanning Electronic Microscope (SEM), hairs of 15 species of deer were analyzed, and the results showed as the following: I.e similarity of genetics and metabolism among deer species made their keratin had similar amino acids. Also there had similar features between deer hairs and that of domestic sheep, except the proline and cystine that were fewer in deer. In addition, significant differences were forund between the hairs of deer and those of carnivore, and this would offer important evidence for field identifications. Different carnivores had different components of keratin based on evolutionary relationship and metabolic similarity. Three kinds of bears and foxes had similar components of hairs; meanwhile the hairs of panda showed clear differences compared with that of sable, tiger, bears and fox. 2.The morpha of scale of deer showed diffevences at following respective levels as family, genus and species, there were also difference at the level of different individuals and different part of the same hairs. Used into the animal taxonomy and identification, such following factors as individual difference, segments, season and artificial factor should be accounted for. And establishment of the hair database and the image analysis system could consummate this method. 3 .The research of hairs had important meaning in the field of taxonomy, genetics, evolution and species identification. Amino-acid curves would bring primary conclusion, however it is better to combine this method with other ways for a synthetic and optimal results.
