Aiming at the serious environmental pollution owning to the increasing any kind of waste materials displacement amount and the high-speed development of lawn has serious destroy to surface soil, we used sludge and pig manure compost, which contain a lot of organic matter and nutrient as lawn substrate. The feasibility used as lawn substrate and biological effecU environmental effect was studied in this paper. It showed that waste materials compost exerted a good influence on the turf-grass growth . With the increases of the ratios of composting application among 5%-40%, the over-ground biomass of turf-grass strongly raised, turf-grass' chloropHyll content get a raise. Compost promoted turf-grass to absorb N, P> K, the contents of turf-grass blade treated by compost substrate remarkably increased than that in the control treatment. Compost substrate brought into play slow-release fertilizer action. In addition, compost substrate promoted available N.. available P. available K is the NPK control's 0.70-7.84> 1.12-42.7, 1.04-20.2 times respectively . Compost substrate had a clear effect on improving the physicochemical properties of lawn substrate. The content of substrate organic matter increased remarkably and the value of pH reduced to be close to suitability to turf-grass grown owing to applying compost. With the increasing amount of compost, bulk density is decreased and field capacity is getting a raise. High-amount compost increased the salinity of the substrate . The high salinity of the substrate affected the germination and turf-grass' growth. When the soluble salt in compost was high, it should be adopt some measures to reduce salt, for example, leach with water before seeding et al. How to reduce the salt-45-content is a worthy studied direction in future. In this paper, a series of compost rations was studied. According to the turf-grass growth response, the amount of compost substrate 5%-20% is suitable for lawn substrate, but 10%, 20% compost substrate is the best. Through this research, sludge and pig manure compost may be used as lawn substrate. The compost was applied to lawn, which avoided food chain and solved the problem of environment. In the same time, chemical fertilizer was eliminated and the cost of production lawn was decreased. This method can get a high degree unity of economic benefits and environmental benefits.
