Evaluation On The Economic Value Of The Forest Biodiversity In Qilian Mountains Nature Reserves

According to the materials acquired and data investigated in the field, by using the approaches of economic evaluation for biodiversity, the direct economic evaluation, and the indirect economic evaluation, such as, shadow engineering, surrogate and conventional market, and the evaluation approach of opportunity, economic value of the forest biodiversity in Qilian Mountains Nature Reserves was evaluated. The indirect economic value was also adjusted based on R.Pearl curve. The main results and conclusion are summarized as follows:1. In the Qilian Mountains Nature Reserves, the direct economic value in RMB is 5.01 billion Yuan, in which, the stumpage value is 5.01 billion Yuan; and the economic value of tour service is about 7.50 million Yuan/a.2. The indirect economic values in RMB of organic matter production, CO, fixation or O2 release, nutrient recycle, soil protection, sand and mud filling up mitigation, water holding capacity environmental purification , plant diseases and insect pests protection were 5.01 X 10'?Yuan/a, 2.41 X 1010 Yuan/a, 1.55X1010 Yuan/a, 4.5 X 10'?Yuan/a, 1.18X108 Yuan/a, 0.98 X1010 Yuan/a, 4.94 X 10s Yuan/a, 5.07X 105 Yuan/a, respectively.3. In this paper the LEV (the largest ecological value) is adjusted according to the local Engel's coefficient and the current indirect value isworked out 3.29X 10'?Yuan/a.4. The unused economic values in RMB of wild animals protection was 5.4 X108 Yuan.The results above indicated that indirect economic value (the economic function value) was by far larger than the material value which all produced by the biodiversity, but, the view of ecological function value will be accepted gradually when the local economy and living standard are developed degrees. So the biodiversity protection is a pressing and arduous mission. In this paper some measures about biodiversity protection were put forward to harmonize the conservation and utilization of biodiversity according to some pertinent plans of Qilian Mountains Nature Reserves.The forest biodiversity economic value on Qilian Mountains nature reserves was assessed primarily in this paper. It should be being perfected so that it can provide scientific basis for the management decision andbiodiversity protection.
