The study of rare plant communities in natural protected areas is the base for biodiversity protection and its sustaintable manangement, which has important significance in theory and practice. In this paper, four communities in the Wanmulin Nature Reserve were comparatively analysized, which included three rare plant communities Tsoongiodendron odorum, Cinnamomum micranthum, Castanopsis fabri community, and Pinus massoniana community. From the different point of review, the present state of the three rare plants were studied, at the same time ,the endangered cause of the plants were discovered. Due to the natural environmental changed under 600 years no-chopping condition, the relationships between rare plants and their environment were not very good .The old method can't stop the extinction trendence.Furthrmore, the modified methord was proposed to protect the rare plants .And so it can reach the goal of sustainable management ,too. The quality analysis results showed as followed:there were clear five layers in every communities , the species abundance distrbution for both tree layers and shrub layers obeyed the Log-normal model and the Weibull distribution model ;the species richness, species numbers ,and D.B.H. were all the highest in the third height class, which meaned there were more in the middle but less in the beginning and the end; the distribution of species numbers and the tree density in different D.B.H.classe both were diverse"]" type, and which can be fitted by negative exponential and negative power equations; Height dynamic analysis showed that the Tsoongiodendron odorum population were negative and the highest ,and the four communities of the whole share level were all lower; the different biodiversity indices in the four communities were alse different ^specially the R,H,E in Pinus massoniana community were highest; there were little change in Bsw and BL of Tsoongiodendron odorum community were different from other three communities ;the niche proportional similarity and the niche overlap value of Pinus massoniana community were the highest ,and the distribution of niche overlap value in shrub layers showed that the trendence was the same as in the tree layer;the overall species association of dominated tree species in four communities were positive association, but in the shrub layers ,the association in Tsoongiodendron odorum community were negative ,and other three communities were postive association. The dominanted tree species pairs association showed significant difference; The spatial pattern of the three dominanted rare plant all showed random distribution ,which were rare in the natural state; The community stability analysis showed that four community has been in unstability state.Whether from the three trees'own biological characters or from their environment, it is reasonable to classify them into rare plants ,the protection and sustainable management method were proposed in this paper.
