Tomato (Lycopericon esculeutum Mill) was grown in manual gas chamber and winter plastic greenhouse in this research. Firstly, we wanted to know the harmful effects of the combination of high UV-B irradiation dose and doubled CO2 on tomato. Secondly, we expected to find the best way to improve the output and quality of tomato with the combined effects of low UV-B irradiation dose and doubled CO2.In the first part, we choosed a high UV-B irradiation dose about 8.40 kJ.m-2.d-1 and doubled CO2 to combine. In the result we found that the combined effects were not significant on plant heighu fresh weight , dry weight, photosynthetic rate (Pn), and the content of ch1, chla, soluble protein , ascorbate acid ( VC), lycopene of tomato. But the stomatal conductance (Gs) was reduced , and the content of chlb and the water use efficiency were promoted. A high UV-B irradiation dose may have harmful effects on tomato and then deteriorate the quality of tomato. While doubled CO2 can have positive effects on tomato and then improve the quality of tomato. There are a lot of matter in winter plastic greenhouse. On the one hand, there is a lack of illumination, especially ultraviolet. On the other hand, there is also short of the gas of C02 . Both of them are harmful to the growth and photosynthetic rate of tomato. In order to solve those matter , we designed the follow research. We choosed different low UV-B irradiation dose about 0.58lkJ.m-2.d-1 , 0.872kJ.m-2.d-1 , 1.163kJ.m-2.d-1, 1.454kJ.m-2.d-1 , 1.744kJ.m-2.d-1 and doubled CO2 to combine. In the result we found that the combined effects of low UV-B irradiation dose and doubled CO2 on tomato promoted the content of chl, chla, chlb, UV absorbing compounds, Vc, lycopene and the activities of POD , SOD , CAT enzymes. Both the output and the quality of tomato were improved. In our reseach the result of combined treatment about 1.163kJ.m-2.d-1UV-B+700 mol mol-1CO2 was the best. So it is the best combined treatment that we sift.
