A series of re-cross trial of high and low oil single hybrids was studied during 1998-1999.The result shows there are three main effects: cytoplasmic vigor, the heterosis of single hybrid re-cross and the effects high-oil trait xenia. The main conclusion as follows: (1) The high-oil trait have xenia effects like quality traits. High-oil hybrids as male cross with the Es -cytoplasm male sterile low oil hybrids, the Fl grain yield is similar with low oil female self-pollinated, but the oil contents increases 1.69%. It would be to increase 120Kg oil per hectare. (2) The Es male-sterile cytoplasm shows cytoplasmic vigor significantly. The result shows that the Es male-sterile cytoplasm Fl (CMF1) is higher in grain yield as much as 7.7%, kernel weight (KW) as much as 5.6% and the number of kernels by rows (NK/R) as much as 5.3% than their counterparts with normal Cytoplasm Fl (NF1) self-pollinated. (3) There are heterosis of single hybrids re-cross. The average Fl KW, NK/R and ear length (EL) were 4.6%, 8.1%, 5% higher respectively than the Es male-sterile female self- pollinated. (4) Using high-oil hybrids as male and the Es-type male-sterile low oil hybrids as female, the average Fl grain yield, EL, KW were12.1%, 8.4%, 7.4% higher respectively than the high -oil hybrids male self-pollinated.Based on these results, the author propose a both high yield and quality corn production model which will exert yield increasing effects of male-sterile cytoplasm, the heterosis of single hybrids re-cross and the effects of high oil trait xenia.
