Carotenoids can make tomato to show color as yellow, orange and red. Most of posses activity of vitamin A and anti-cancer, they are also the necessary of food.This paper detected the a - carotene, β-carotene, lycopene and xanthophyll in wild and antisense-ACS (ACC synthase) tomato fruit using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) during ripening. The result suggested that there are significant different between wild and transgenic tomato about the amount of lycopene. The lycopene synthesize was detected in antisense-ACS tomato fruit 50-days after anthesis, and the content was only 1/56 compare with the wild tomato fruit at the same period. Exotic ethylene treating can promote carotenoids synthesize and especially accumulate lycopene in tomato fruit after pollen 35-days. The content of lycopene in antisense-ACS tomato fruit treated with exotic ethylene 6 days later reached about the same numerical value.We can concluded: during the biosynthesis of carotenoids,β-carotene and xanthophylls were not controlled while lycopene was blocked in antisense-ACS tomato fruit. The biosynthesis of Carotenoids can be promoted by treatment with exotic ethylene in antisense-ACS tomato fruit.The result show that lycopene synthesize was deferred in transgenic tomato fruit. After treated ethylene lycopene accumulation was increased in transgenic tomato fruit. The biosynthesis of Carotenoids can be promoted by treatment with exotic ethylene in antisense-ACS tomato fruit. The lycopene was significantly promoted. That is to say, the biosynthesis of lycopene depend on ethylene. |
