This thesis made a reasonable and optimal design of equipment of the farming machinery system of Xihu management area which is a typical agricultural production area in Dongting Lake Region, on the basis of analyzing natural condition of agriculture and status of fanning mechanization nowadays, applying the systems engineering theories and methods. It made a compare between the original farming machinery system and that of being optimized, using the picked indexes as criterion of evaluation. The result of the compare proves that the optimized farming machinery system is more reasonable and more economical than original one.The thesis introduced the current situation and the traditional methods of research on agricultural machinery system of domestic and overseas, and analyzed the abundant conditions of agriculture and current status of farming machinery system in Dongting Lake Region, as well as the existing problems. Pointed out the direction and guidance of optimize the equipment of farming machinery system in Dongting Lake Region. Many factors were considered in analyzing the example Xihu management area. It analyzed the natural conditions of agriculture, planting regulations and mode of crops, the amount of farming machinery of agriculture. Picked out the type of tractors by fussy scoring from eight aspects, capability and price, working efficiency, drive power, adaptability, economy, reliability of technology and structure, interconvertibility, handy and comfortable operation. Validated the matching power of tractor and stock and ascertain the farming machine sets. Made out flow chart of pipelining farming and drawn figures of mechanized farming phases, on the basis of the amount of working load according to the basic demands and modes of the major cropsproductions. Set up linear programming model that objective of minimum cost of the whole production. Worked out the optimal result of the equipment in Xihu management area by computer program which applying Visual FoxPro 6.0 programming language. Compared the working scheme of farming machinery system which before optimized and that of after by seven evaluating indicators, amount of tractor, total power, amount of stock, total investment, total cost of production, cost per unit area, working area per unit power.The model and the optimal scheme in this thesis are good at maneuverability and could make better effect by applying to farming in future. So the optimizing idea and model set a good example of theoretic foundations and guidance and practical reference for optimize equipment of farming machinery system of the whole Dongting Lake Region.
