The phenomenon of lightning fire, the complexity of its forming mechanism, the nature of multivariable involvement in its prediction, and the unique characteristics of lightning fire prevention, monitoring and fighting are addressed in this paper based on literatures and field data. The close relationship between lighting fire and lightning storm is also expounded. Lightning fires occur frequently when lightning storms, especially dry lightning storms happen in frequently burned area. Lightning fire has its own geographical, temporal and spatial characteristics. The stochastic nature of lightning fire makes it much more difficult to predict, monitor and suppress it.The comprehensive methods for lightning fire prediction and monitoring are discussed based on current research work. The methods for suppressing lightning fire and safety of fire fighters needing be paid highly attention are explored based on fuel types of Daxing'anling region. The changes in global climate and forest types, the worsening of environments, especially the first recorded extra large forest fire caused by lightning happened in the summer of 2002, warn us again that further studies on the mechanism of lightning fire is still needed for better preventing, monitoring and suppressing lightning fires. Scientific measures are suggested in the paper for preventing lightning fire in Daxing'anling region where lightning fires accounts for 38% of the total fires.
