The Effects Of Extraction Of Chinese Herb On Serum Levels Of GH And IGF-I In Pigs

Eighty DLY(Duroc X Landrace X Yorkshire) pigs were used to investigate the effects of Extraction of Chinese Herb(ENCH) on growth performance and growth hormone(GH) and insulin-like growth factors-I (IGF-I) levels in serum. All pigs were randomly allotted to two treatments each of which was replicated four times with ten pigs per replicate. Fed basic diet supplemented with 300mg Extraction of Chinese Herb (ENCH) per kg diets for Test group or 300mg normal using drugs per kg diets for Control group.The results showed that comparing to the control group, ENCH supplement increased the average daily gain weight(ADG) of piglets, growing and finishing pigs by 7.18%(P<0.05),6. 09%(P<0.05) and 3.15%(P>.05) respectively; transformation rate of diet for piglets, growing and finishing pigs was increased by 5.61%(P<0. 05) , 6. 73%(P<0. 05) and 6. 74%(P<0. 05) respectively. Serum analysis showed that the concentration of GH in serum of piglets, growing and finishing pigs was increased by 7. 34%( P <0. 05), 21. 09%( P <0. 05) and 7. 56%( P <0. 05) respectively; the concentration of IGF-I in serum of piglets, growing and finishing pigs was increased byl5.32%( P <0.05), 17. 20%( P <0. 05) and 6. 56%( P <0.05) respectively.The results showed that basic diet supplemented with ENCH filled with normal using drugs, the concentration of GH and IGF-I levels in serum was increased. ENCH supplement increased growth rate, the average daily gain weight(ADG) and transformation rate of diet. The results indicated that the effect of ENCH on improving the growing performance of piglets, growing and finishing pigs, perhaps though the system of internal secretion. It is the same as a whole effect to improve the growing performance though the digestibility of feed nutrition; enhance the anabolism though improving synthesis and secretion of GH and IGF—1.
