We collected dongzao jujube trees from 5 different provenances and Chengwu dongzao as the representative of serotinous Zizyphus jujube. The experimentations are disposed in Beijing, Shandong and Tianjin. One of our main tasks is to compare dongzao jujube from different provenances through phenology, characters of growth and fruit, the other is the performance of fruit quality influenced by different kinds of fertilizer. The main conclusions are as follows:1 , Chengwu dongzao was different from "dongzao jujube" in many features, it didn't belong to dongzao jujube as a matter of fact. We can't call any serotinous Zizyphus jujube dongzao jujube.2, Between the five provenances, "dongzao jujube" were a little difference in phenology, number of flowers, rate of fruit setting, the shape and flower pattern of the core, that showed their base of heredity might be identical. There were many differences between root collar diameter, length between nodes among one-year and tow year branches, weight of fruit and the core, thickness of pericarp, nutrition parameters of fruit, and cold hardness. 3, Different kinds of fertilizer improved the total saccharide and soluble solid matter content. Dextrose and fructose were the main ingredients in sugar change of fruit at previous stage. Disaccharide was dominating at the subsequent stage. Mineral fertilizer was the best one to raise the organic acid of the fruit.4 , Aminophenol fertilizer and mineral fertilizer improved the fruit's vitamin C content. Thickness of pericarp with aminophenol fertilizer was thinner than pericarp with those two kinds of fertilizer.5 , All the fertilizer could make the fruit to be red earlier, but rotten and softening fruit were more as earlier as well. Total saccharide declined in the storage period. The trend of dextrose and fructose's changing is opposite to disaccharide's.6, Vitamin C content dropped relatively slowed at earlier stage and quickly after two months later. Fruit hardness changed slowly in earlier stage and accelerates two months later. Different kinds of fertilizer didn't affect the fruit's hardness.
