This paper is one of the research contents of the Facility Construction of the Research and Development of Self-propelled Water-saving Irrigation Implement, an item supported by the Ministry of Agriculture. According to the especial demand of the research of the Self-propelled Water-saving Irrigation Technology, special soil-bin system and soil-bin trolley are developed, which is of great importance to the forming of the technology in the lead of China and base of implements' research and development.This paper briefly introduces the development process and main research content of this technology. The research work and the circumstances of application and development of soil-bin system and soil-bin trolley in the latest decades are analyzed. Based on the analysis, according to function requirements of research tasks of the self-propelled water-saving irrigation technology, some work is done including: the model-selecting of soil-bin system and soil-bin trolley, the general designs of the mechanical system and the test and control system of the soil-bin trolley, and the engineering design of the mechanical system and the test and control system of the trolley.Among the development research on the mechanical system of the soil-bin trolleys, the main achievements are solved including the Driving problem of trolley and dual-power driving, problems of the drastic connection and measurement under loading, adjustment problem of furrowing position of the implement, and construction problem of the water-application system. Among the development researchon the test and control system, data collection and disposal problem is solved after the selection and installation of several measurement sensors in the design, and automatic controlling problems such as trolley's walking and water supply are solved. After adjustment and testing, it is shown that properties of the trolley suffice not only expectant design demands, but especial requirements of self-propelled water-saving irrigation technology research.
