Laser-controlled land leveling system is a useful tool for precision surface irrigation. It can obviously improve the land leveling accuracy and seedbed conditions in fields, achieve a high quality of surface flood irrigation. This research was a part of the project "Research and Development on laser controlled leveling system" and aimed to develop a lower-cost 3-D intelligent measurement system for field landscape and an aided decision-making support system for laser leveling on farmland with good performances in precision land leveling.Adopting mechatronics technology and function module thoughts, this paper introduced the development of 3-D intelligent measurement system for field landscape, which mainly includes measuring pole, height information collection unit, DGPS receive module , display module, data storage module, etc. The system adopted AT89S51 CPU, which can finish controlling, computing, storing and communication functions through extending program memory, data memory, serial port and parallel port.Laser leveling aided decision-making support system was equipped with multi functions, including run route planning, digging and filling, work time estimation, advanced analysis. The functions were realized by adopting MapObject Control module in Microsoft Visual C + +6.0 developing environment.Through indoor and outdoor experiments, it was proved that the designed 3-D intelligent measurement system for field landscape and Laser leveling aided decision-making support system can work stably. The 3-D intelligent measurement system can achieve an accuracy of 2cm in attitude measurement. The measurement efficiency is two times higher than that of using measure pole of imported equipments. The measurement system developed can provide basic decision-making support for laser controlled field leveling.
