A great many data should be tested, collected and analyzed in order to improve the experiment results in Rice Water-Saving. However, the traditional methods cannot meet the basic requirement in the field-combined measurements. The commercial equipments with high price might not be able to achieve all the goals in the experiments. As far as the wide applications of water-saving project are concerned in the near future of agriculture ecology, we designed and developed the high precision remote data logging system.This system can automatically monitor a series of biological and ecological factors including water level in filed cannels, soil moisture, and even plant growth, which indicated that a more satisfied measurement of the association among crops growth, watering, basic weather reference and the needs of crops has been built up. By using the self-developed specific software and based on the "practical information", our system could meet the want of accurate data collection and control under different crops and weather conditions.The logging system is composed by sensors, data logging module, data transmission, and monitoring software. Up to 30 individual module units can be connected to form a survey network. Total of 240 different sensors may work at the same time. Each module has 8 input ports with 16 bit resolution. Most of the agricultural environmental monitoring analog output sensors can be connected by related equations in the software. The data are transmitted by via RS-485 converter to extend the transmission distance, which is more than 1000 meters. To meet the requirements of the complete three dimension-covered control, a program of rice watering, level-surface, watering level-measuring combined device and the precision soil moisture sensors were designed and tested.Structural design from top to bottom is used in the method to build the system. The system operation is easy and the maintenance is convenient. The system is representative and extendable, and runs stably. In order to fit different nature conditions at all kinds of area, we can design certain channels connection sensors to quantify the limit and also verify the output of sensors, which will wide application of the system.During the application of the system, it can collect a lot of dynamic date promptly in time (less than 1 second per datum) and the measurement accuracy is rather high. It willimprove the observation level of the biological and ecological factors, and benefit saving-water research and quality of the data.The key technology and equipments of the system are self-developed and have several knowledge-patents. The general skill level of our system is well developed, while cost and selling price of the whole facilities are much lower than the similar products from foreign countries. The data can be applied at watering field and in drainage area for small amount water flow auto-measuring system as well. Depending on our specific software, the system can make water management and detection quantified and decision-making scientifically.
