The experiment was carried out on the meadow rangeland in Hailaer, Inner Mongolia, China. The comparative analysis between rotational grazing and continuous grazing was done on the aspects of vegetation, soil and animal performance. The results showed as follows. The biomass of Leymus chinensis above ground in the rotational grazed paddock was significantly higher than that in the continuous grazed one (P<0.05). However, the biomass of other forages above ground between the two paddocks was not significantly different (P>0.05).The compensatory growth of forage plants between the two utilization patterns was significantly different (P<0.05), equal compensatory growth was found in rotational paddock, while poor compensatory growth was found in continuous paddock. The content of nutritirnt matter of Leymus chinensis among all experimental areas were not significantly different (P<0.05), but the water content in rotational grazed area was significantly higher than that in continuous grazed area (P<0.05).It was found that the moisture content and bulk density of soil in no-grazed check plot during the experimental period were significantly higher than those in the rotational grazed area (P<0.05), and those in the rotated area were higher than those in the continuous grazed area (P<0.05)It was found that the physical characteristics of soil, for example moisture content, bulk density and porosity of soil , were significantly affected by grazing activity, not only by continuous grazing, but also by rotational grazing (P<0.05).The grazing systems affected significantly the lactating performance of Sanhe cow, the milk production per cow by rotational grazing was increased by nearly 25% (p<0.05) . However, the fat and protein content of milk were not significantly affected by the grazing systems (P>0.05).
