In the course of long-term and frequent tiny amount intake of something such as food additives, the contacting- material may cause mutation in genetic material of organism. As a valuable herbal medicine , the Eucommia ulmides Oliver has been developed as something like Eucommia ulmides tea, Eucommia ulmides beverage and so on. It has been also brought into wide use in feed additives. But at the aspect of reproduce toxicity and genetic toxicity ,there is few safety reporting at home and abroad. So we run this study to research into this problem.By use of little mouse as experimental subjects, we run one generation experiment to observe each index change. The indexes cover mating rate, fertility rate, partus rate, viability rate, Changes of average weight, change of blood biochemical profile, the normal developmental state of the second generation and so on. At the end of the experiment, we do some examination of major reproductive organs with H-E stain. And we use SCGE to test the DNA damage in Lymphocytes of mouse. We select SCGE to research into the heredity toxicity of Eucommia ulmides Oliver with Ames experiment, sperm malformation experiment and bone marrow micronucleus experiment. The results showed that each group has no marked difference in mating rate, fertility rate, partus rate, viability rate and the normal developmental state of the second generation in one generation experiment compared with the contrast group (p>0.05) . In one generation experiment the weight of high and medirate dose group has a remarkable increase (p<0.05) . In SCGE experiment, the difference of the tail rate, average tail length and DNA damage in each group is unnoticeable compared with negative group (p>0.05) ,remarkable compared with positive group (p<0.01) .The conclusion showed that the Zhang Jia Jie Eucommia ulmides Oliver extract has no bad effect on animal reproduce; It is also not likely to cause DNA damage in mouse Lymphocytes. And It can stimulate the growth of the mouse.
