Comparison Study On Second Year Growing Stage Of 22 Alfalfa Cultivars

This paper studied 22 alfalfa (medicago sativa L.) cultivars which is applying in large area in production, related index of growing characters, yield, quality were measured, yield, quality were focused on to evaluated them synthetically with two method. This research conducted in order to supply high yield, good quality, applicable alfalfa cultivars, to give the element science basis for agriculture production in Guanzhong and similar agrotype area. At the same time this research give a first-hand meter of alfalfa cultivar evaluation for breeding research. The results as follows: 22 alfalfa cultivars had significant difference on growing characters at first cutting. Alfaqueen, Golden Empress, Derby, Deft, Victoria, Guanzhong, Zhongmu No.1 and Alfalfa 54 were taller than others. Total, Zhongmu No.1, Guanzhong, Haygrazer and Sanditi had more yield and yield of dry matter than others at first cutting. 22 alfalfa cultivars had significant difference on growing characters after the first cutting. Total, Derby, Victoria, Haygrazer and Alfalfa 54 were taller than other cultivars. Ningxia, Guanzhong, Empress and Zhongmu No.1 were lower than others. Guanzhong, Ningxia, Derby and WL253HQ had lower yield of dry matter. Ningxia and Guanzhong had yield of dry matter only 7 767 kg/hm2,9 600 kg/hm2. The great problem, which had on Guanzhong growing character, was low twice-born yield. 22 alfalfa cultivars had significant difference on total yield in second the year, Algonquin, Sitel, Alfalfa 54, Haygrazer and Sanditi had more green grass yield that was more than 104 000 kg/hm2. AmeriGraze, Empress, Alfalfa 54, Algonquin, Sitel and Sanditi had more dry matter yield that was more than 24 900 kg/hm~2. 22 alfalfa cultivars had significant difference on crude protein yield. Algonquin, Sitel, Sanditi, WL323HQ and Haygrazer had more crude protein yield that was more than 4 850 kg/hm~2. The nutrient yields of 22 alfalfa cultivars had significant difference. Guanzhong,Affinity,Alfaqueen,WL323HQ,WL232HQ,WL323ML,WL252HQ,Algonquin and Haygrazer had more crude protein content that was more than 19%. Alfaqueen,WL232HQ,WL252HQ,Algonquin, Victoria and Alfalfa 54 had lower crude fiber content than others. Evaluated 22 alfalfa cultivars synthetically with two methods. Algonquin, Sitel, Haygrazer and Alfalfa 54 had the grades of more than 40(total 50 grades). Algonquin, Sitel, Haygrazer, Alfalfa 54, Empress, Sanditi and WL323HQ, which should be recommended in Guanzhong, had the grades of more than 125(Guanzhong 100 grades) with parametric index method.
