The locust Locusta migratoria manilensis(Meyen)(Orthoptera, Oedipoeli-dae,Locusta Linnaeus)is an important agricultural pest. This paper compared the polymorphisms among 8 area populations including Runan(Henan), Lingbao(Henan), Wuzhi(Henan), Lankao(Henan), Puyang(Henan), Dongying(Shangdong), Huanghua (Hebei) and Yutian(Hebei) using morphological index, AFLP analysis in genome DNA and the mtdna fragment sequences. The analysis result from 13 morphological indexes showed the different age and sex locusts were apparently divided, which indicated the same age and sex locusts must be selected when studing the morphological polymorphisms different in area populations of L. migratoria manilensis(Meyen). While the dendrogram generated was different among the different age and sex. There were 1159 loci bands from AFLP analysis in genome DNA among populations by 20 primer combinations, the average polymorphism ratio was 59.88%. The dendrogram generated result by SPSS11.5 software Average Linkage(within group)showed:the populations of Huanghua and Yutian were a clustering in the first, the populations of Lankao, Puyang and Wuzhi clustering which were near in latitude. There were 3 clusterings when λ was 20, the populations of Dongying, Huanghua and Yutian were a clustering, the populations of Runan attached to the clustering of Lankao, Puyang and Wuzhi, but distant, while the populations of Lingbao was a absolute clustering. The content of G+C in the sequence of 397bp DNA fragment of mtDNA CO- II was 30.98%, but the sequence were not different among 8 area populations. There were 5 bases different, 1 base G insert, 1 base A lost and the identity was 98.34% compared with the sequence of Genebank. There were 9 body-color types in the 5 age nymphae of L. migratoria manilensis (Meyen) including green, brown, black, red, yellow, grey, reseda, red-green and russet. There were 800 loci bands from AFLP analysis in genome DNA among populations by 14 primer combinations, the average polymorphism ratio was 69.50%. The dendrogram generated result by SPSS11.5 software Average Linkage(within group)showed: the populations of green, reseda and yellow from Runan were intimate with the populations...
