Genetic diversity of five Gushi chicken lines(Fast Feathering and Slow Feathering Gushi chicks, pure line, parental, commercial breeds of Gushi chicks)and four other lines(xing-hong, green-shell eggs, Ross rosser, Avin broiler) was evaluated on the basis of 10 microsatellite markers selected from the chicken Gene-Bank. Allele frequencies were estimated based on band presence or absence.Average breed heterozygosity and genetic distance were calculated based on allele frequencies. And then, cluster analysis based on those calculated genetic distance lines was performed for the nine chicken lines.Linkage analysis between character(phenotypic and slaughter) and markers by least squares means and the correlation among microsatellite markers and these traits. The results indicate:Eight pairs of microsatellites were polymorphticn and give consistence. The average number of alleles detected by a pair of primers was 4 and the average value of PIC was 0.4841.All calculated parameters were significantly different among nine chicken lines. The average heterozygosity of eight microsatellite loci in Ross rosser was the highest among nine chicken lines and in xing-hong was the slowest.Among five Gushi chicken lines, the average heterozygosity of eight microsatellite loci in Fast Feathering and Slow Feathering Gushi chicks was 0.5955 and 0.5914.The average heterozygosity of eight microsatellite loci in pure line, parental, commercial breeds of Gushi chicks was 0.6121,0.6191 and 0.6260 respectively. The average heterozygosity of eight microsatellite loci in nine chicken lines was 0.6220.The same conclusion could be taken from the result of genetic distance and UPGMA cluster analysis. The genetic distance of Avin broiler and other chicken lines was the highest. The genetic distance of five Gushi chicken lines and other chicken lines were slower. The UPGMA cluster analysis clustered the xing and green-shell eggs as one at first, then the Fast Feathering and Slow Feathering Gushi chicks as one second, then Gushi Pure line and second as one third, then parental and commercial breeds of...
