With the increase in investment for water and soil conservation in the eco-environmental development project and the need for realizing water and soil conservation modernization, it is more and more important to construct to a water and soil conservation monitoring system. It is the basis of preventing and curing the soil and water loss, sharing the data, providing the foundation data for evaluation of soil erode, management measure, management result etc, and improving the environment, to construct information system of soil and water conservation monitoring, to realize to monitoring soil and water loss an prevention benefit timely, accurately and systematically. But the project of soil and water conservation monitoring involves a great deal of information and data in different formats and criteria which are occupied by different departments and are difficult to share and develop. Therefore it is very important to emphasis the development of the Soil and Water conservation monitoring System based on criteria and standard.In the paper the development of the presentation and implementation of geoinformation and soil and water conservation monitoring information based on web is summarized and analyzed aiming at their deficiencies. Then, we propose some approaches of presentation and implementation of the soil and water conservation monitoring information based on web.The main conclusions are as following:With the research and analysis of the characteristics of water conservation monitoring information which involve data contents, data format, data application target etc, and the demand to present information in the web environment, spatial data and non-spatial data were stored and managed in the uniform platform based on Oracle and ArcSDE. We also implemented the management of historical information by ArcSDE version function. The above-mentioned two points will provide favorable foundation with the presentation and sharing of Soil and Water Conservation monitoring information.After studying the presentation method of water and soil conservation monitoring information under Web environment, this paper integrats many kinds of expression methods such as visualization, object-oriented(OO), ASP, Javascript, ARCXML, component technic etc, and tries to find which method is the best presentation method in all kinds of datum. Taking soil erosion as the thread, the system realizes a convenient and swift navigation and orientation between different spatial layers by using tree view.
