The aim of this study was to determine the effects of soybean oil added in sows' diets on the production performances of the sows, for which two experiments had been conducted. In the first experiment, 22 LY (Landrace × Yorkshire) sows, which had 2 litters or 3 litters were divided into 2 groups:test group and control group ad libitum.During the trial period from antepartum 20d to postpartum 21 d, the test group sows were fed with basal diets in which soybean oil was added to determine the effect of soybean oil on the birth weight and development in the piglets. The results showed that Compared with control group, piglets in the test group had 0.14kg greater the birth weight, which increased by 10.8%;By the end of 21 day-old ,the weaning piglets in the test group had 6.48kg greater litter weight .which increased by 9.0%(P<0.05) .compared with that in the control group. There was no significant difference in the average litter size between of the two groups, yet the average numbers of survival farrowing and the numbers of weaning piglets in the test group were significantly 0.56 heads/litter (P<0.05) and 0.95 heads/litter (P<0.05) more, respectively.which increased by 5.09% (P<0.05)and 8.64%(P<0.05), respectively .compared with that in the control group. In experiment 2, two-crossed sows (Landrace xYorkshire) (n=206) were divided averagely into 2 groups: test group and control group ad libitum.During the trial period from antepartum 7d to postpartum 21 d,the test group sows were fed with basal diets in which soybean oil(40g/kg) was added to investigate the effect of soybean oil on the backfat depth and the days of the oestrst after farrowing in the sows. The results showed that Compared with that in the control group, the sows in the test group had 7 kg/heads(P<0.01) less body loss during the stage of lactation, and had 4.64mm(P<0.05) greater the backfat depth, more over, the days of the oestrst after farrowing advanced by 3.65d(P<0.05).From the two experiment mentioned above,we concluded that the soybean oil added in sows' dies during the the late stage of pregnancy and the the stage of lactation remarkably enhanced the capability of lactation of sows and the ratio of survival of the suckling piglets, while decreased the body loss of the sows during the stage of lactation and advanced the days of the oestrst after farrowing.
