Recently China has been the biggest scale of seawater aquiculture in the world. Seawater aquiculture has become the main industry in the littoral provinces. But plankton, bacterium and virus make the seawater polluted such as medical pollution, water quality pollution and microbe pollution. Accordingly it makes diseases broken out and the biogeocenose unbalanced. It also can not be neglected that tremendous energy is consumed while changing and heating plenty of seawater. It is urgent to find an effective and friendly method to deal with aquicultural seawater.Based on the key and General Projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC: 60371035) and the NCET Project (NCET-04-0286), we use the hydroxyl solution to deal with aquicultural seawater to kill the microorganisms and improve water quality. Also do some researches on the mechanism of making hydroxyl solution, the killing effect of microorganisms, and the affection on water quality.As a result, hydroxyl radical has the strong killing effect on Vibrio, E.coli., bacterium and Dunaliella spp.. The results indicate that Vibrio and E.coli. have been killed with the ratio concentration of 0.45mg/L. When the ratio concentration is up tol.24mg/L, the kill efficiency of Dunaliella spp. reaches 95.8%, and hydroxyl radical decomposes the chlorophyll, also membrane lipid peroxidation and antioxidase were damaged completely. Water quality has been improved by hydroxyl radical. DO increases obviously to 22.1mg/L. COD is decreased by 97%. At the ratio concentration of 0.68 mg/L, the contents of ammonia-nitrogen and Nitrite were decreased prominently, the concent of ammonia-nitrogen is reduce to 0.017mg/L. Accord with the srandards of piscatorial water quality (GB11607—89).From the experimental data, it showed that seawater treatment by strong ionizationdischarge making hydroxyl solution can kill Vibrio, E.coli. and plankton effectively so as to prevent diseases from spreading. Meanwhile it can improve water quality and reduce energy consumption. It is an effective and feasible green method to treat aquicultural seawater.
