The resources and environments are the material of mankind rely for existence and development foundations. With the quick development of the national economy, people more and more attach importance to the resources and environment. Forest resources play an important role in maintaining national economy development and keeping the balance of ecosystem, so we should know the current situation of forest and grasp its changing regulation and enact scientific forest management decision. The traditional methods of forest resources investigation are inapplicable, so we must adopt new technique. In recent years, traditional GIS is switching to WWW with the rapid development of Internet technology, and publishing information on web has become hot research thesis of international society. Carry on the forest resources management with the WebGIS, the numeral that carries out the forest resources management turns to turn the share with network, in order to study the function dynamic state of the forest resources and a little bit hot problem of other aspects to provide the technique to prop up, can also provide the decision help for the decision maker.Using technique of WebGIS, this article designs the Shaanxi province forest resources management information system based on the Client/Server and Browser/Server structure. The system adopts Geodatabase space database model to organize data, stores vector data, raster data etc. in the same database, and build up the index for the spatial data to improve the efficiency of search and query. Finally, using ArcGIS9.0 software as platform, we founded the forest resources management information system of the Ningshan County.
