Allium mongolicum Regel was pernennial and xeric plant in Allium of Liliaceae , it was an endernic species in Mongol plateau and distributed widely in Inner Mongolia. The study on biological characteristics was composed of five aspects,the results showed:1. Amino acid and vitamine's content was very much in seed, so the value of exploitation and utilization was advantageous in medicine and edible.2. Seeds would germinate during 5℃to 30℃, with the optimum temperature of 19±1℃. soaked seeds would have a higher germination index during 8~24 h, The proper time for soaking was 12 hours and if it were more than 24 hrs, thus decrease the germination percentage. the germination percentage and germination viabilities under the light treatment of 24hrs/d decreased by 74.45% and 65.55% than those under the dark treatment of 24 hrs/d, which indicated that its seed was sensitive to light during germination time.3. In the germination of Allium mongolicum Regel seeds, seedling length, radicel length, seedling weight, soluble sugar content,amino acid and vitamin content raised; but protein content and seedling dry weight degraded; starch content could change from decreasing to rising ,but lipid content could change from rising to decreasing.4. 5~25 d was embryo ripeness after blossom,the volume raised,protein and soluble suger content degraded,starch content contained steady,lipid content could chang from decreasing to rising; the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD) and catalase(CAT) declined,malonadhyde(MDA) content changed from declining to rising.25~40 d is dehydration of seed,the results indicated that: water content decreased,protein and starch content began to accumulate,the activity of CAT,SOD and LOX raised, MDA content declined. To sum up, lipid was accumulated that was prior to starch and protein in seed growth,the activity of SOD and CAT declined during ripeness,but raised during dehydration, so the danmage of MDA was small.5. In the germination of Allium mongolicum Regel seeds, during the stress of low temperature,high temperature and lighe, and after the stress of them,conpared to 20℃,lipid content raised, soluble suger content declined, the activity of SOD raised, MDA content dropped.6. In the dormancy of Allium mongolicum Regel seeds, the germination index raised gradually,the content of protein, lipid and soluble changed from rising to declining, starch dropped.
