β-Glucan is a kind of non-starch polysacchride which exists at the subaleurone cell wall of seeds of oat. In this paper we did some research on the relationship between nitrogen supply andβ-glucan accumulation in several genetypes of oats. The results indicated:1.β-Glucan content was different in the seeds of different genetypes of oat.β-glucan contents in Nei-3, Pall and f8-h-2 were highest (more than 3%); in Taifeng and f8-13-11 were below 2.2% and in the rest were between 2.3% to 3.0%.2. Total nitrogen content, soluble protein, glutathrin synthase activity and dry substance accumulation of oats increased with the increment of nitrogen fertilizers supply, the influence of nitrogen fertilizers kinds was: NH4++NO3-> NO3-> NH4+。3.β-Glucan content in oat seeds increased when more nitrogen fertilizer were supplied, and nitrogen fertilizers kinds had obvious influence to theβ-Glucan content, Different kinds of nitrogen fertilizer of the same level, NO3-—N fertilizer supply was advantageous to the accumulation ofβ-Glucan, NO3-—N fertilizer and NH4+—N fertilizer combine to use had the best effect,β-Glucan content was highly consistant with Nitrogen metabolize and dry substance accumulation of oats.4. The correlation between 1000-grain weight in oats andβ-glucan content was significant on P<0.05 level. The correlation betweenβ-glucan content and the yield of oats supplied with NO3-—N fertilizer was significant on P<0.01 level.
