Avena sativa is one of the main crops in cold area, which has strong cold and drought resistance and is one of the main food for animals. Avena sativa nutrition is high. Avena sativa is one of the most important crops in Yanmen Pass, which plays an important role in artificial grassland construction, replacement of degraded natural grassland, health food development and so on. The research of forage Oat should be focused on cultivation and improvement of new varieties, io order to replace of the degraded varieties and improve productivity. The study of its stress-tolerance and nutrition ensures that good varieties play a positive role in production. The research on oat's specific ingredient will lays the foundation of further processing of oat products, increasing the add-value and developing new health products. Several different Yanmen Pass Avena sativa varieties were studied in this paper, adaptability evaluation was carried on You Yu experimental complex where located within Yanmen Pass Zone. A comprehensive evaluation of ten avena sativa varieties was proceeding in botanical characters, biological traits, agronomic traits, stress-tolerance and nutrition. Two yield traits and ten quality traits were analyzed by principal component analysis technique. Evaluation and selection of ten Oat verities were implemented by two random principal components out of three principal components, then totally three varieties with relatively high yield, high protein and low acid detergent fiber, a good comprehensive character and suited for Yanmen Pass Agro-pastoral Transitional Zone were recommended.
