There are many distribution sites of common wild rice (Oryza rufipogon Griff.) in China. As ancestor of cultivar rice, the common wild rice is highly valuable wild germplasm. Guangxi is main region for the distribution of common wild rice in our country, and therefore, has the unique status in rice resources. In this study, 8 population groups of common wild rice germplam from seven cities representing major distribution of the wild in Guangxi had been studied using SSR makers. The purpose of the study was to reveal genetic diversity at molecular level in these populations in order to set a solid theoretic and practical base for safe conservation, character avaluation and utilization in cultivars of the common wild rice. The main results of the study were presented as follow:The genetic diversity of 846 individuals from 8 common wild rice natural populations was assessed. Results showed that there was rich genetic diversity in the Guangxi common wild rice. All of the twelve microsatellites used showed polymorphic and a total of 48 alleles were detected. The number of alleles per locus (A) was 4.00. The effective number of alleles (A_e) was 1.95, and the average expected heterozygosity (H_e) and observed heterozygosity (H_o) were 0.4174 and 0.2566 respectively, while the Shannon's Information index (I) was 0.7513. The genetic diversity varied among...
