After many years'research, the present paper explored a set of methods to appraise soybeans'anti-Etiella zinckenella and found out the characteristics of the harms done by Etiella zinckenella initially. It also discovered an easy way to replace artificial infestation to lima bean pod borer and factors closely related with the Etiella zinckenella. The heredity phenomenon of anti-Etiella zinckenella was discussed as well.According to many years'practice of appraising the anti-Etiella zinckenella, the present paper proposed some programs to appraise the anti-Etiella zinckenella as fellows: (1) To collect a large quantity of samples to make an investigation of eating pod rate for 1-2 years'and select primarily some resistant materials. (2) To set up a garden to appraise the anti- insect sorts and reappraise the resistant materials selected for 1-2 years. (3) To carry on lima bean pod borer under cinder of artificial infestation to resistant material determined by repeated appraisal screening and affirm its resistance. (4) To establish matching species of the resistant materials to carry on the regional appraisal for 2-3 years to make clear its resistant adaptability. In the years in which Etiella zinckenella occur not very severely, the gradation of resistance degree can be achieved in accordance with the pod -eating rate of the anti- insect variety. Generally the pod-eating rate is taken of the anti- insect variety as the upper limit of the anti- insect level standard, while the pod-eating rate of the insect-infecting variety is taken as the lower limit of infection degree, then the anti- infecting sort is divided.To appraise soybeans'anti-Etiella zinckenella in the area where Etiella zinckenella occurs frequently can accurately give expression to the resistant capacity of the soybean sorts and differentiate the anti- infecting sort.
