This study is one part of the united project of Inner Mongolia Agricultural University and Ordos Foresty Bureau which named"The Study of Ordos Plateau Several Caragana Species Distribution, Resistance drought Afforestation and Exploitatin."The study was supported by this project. This study did common nutritive components to evaluate Ordos Plateau 8 Caragana species and analyzed nutritive components, biomass, stumping, digestibility and silage to Ningtiao (Caragana intermedia and Caragana korshinskii). This study provides a better academic guidance for valid utilization of Caragana resources.The result indicated, in Ordos Plateau's 8 species of genus Caragana, the content of crude fat and crude protein in Ningtiao were highest. its content of crude protein, absorbed water and phosphorus decreased from early May to early October,during the time in contrast its crude fiber, crude ash, nitrogen free exact and calcium content had an increase. 2 years old Ningtiao's crude fat was highest in early October, but the content of crude fat in perennial Ningtiao were highest in early May. As times went on, C.korshinskii's digestibility of crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber and nitrogen free exact began to descend. So as concerned as nutritive value, the anthesis that early May have been regarded as the best time of stumping and silage because of abundant nutrition, good palatability and high digestibility. Crude fat, crude protein, calcium and phosphorus in Ningtiao's leaves are highest, then the flower and the lowest in tillers. Crude fiber in leaves was only 18.7%, so they were excellent feed for livestocks.The biomass of Ningtiao had a continual increase from early May to October. As year-by-year, the content of crude protein, crude fat, and absorbed water in Ningtiao dropped, at the same time crude fiber and crude ashes increased those changes led to bad palatability. In general, 1, 2 and 3 years old Ningtiao had a good nutritive components, based on biomass and nutritive component changes, 2 or 3 years time as a cycle for stumping. Stumping would improve Ningtiao's quality and grazing yield, therein the best stumping was cutting close to ground.C.intermedia's Silage which was not only preserving higher nutritive value, but also declining content of crude fiber that would improve livestock's palatability. Furthermore, C.intermedia and corn mixed silage had a higher nutritive value than C.intermedia pure silage and corn pure silage.
