A Study On The Female Effect After Treating Cucumber Seeds With NAA

It was conducted that cucumber seeds were treated by NAA at the concentration of 200mg/l, 300mg/l, 400mg/l, 500mg/l, 600mg/l respectively for 12 hours and 16 hours (seed-soaking) and water was check (CK) measuring the nutritive growth index of cucumbers, the index of procreation growth and output of cucumbers, by studying the female effect.The results showed that: different concentration of NAA treated the cucumber seeds, which obviously restrained the overgrown in the growth stage of cucumbers. Every treatment of the height about cucumbers and the largest area of leaf and the width of stem in the cucumber were clearly lower than that of controls in every growth stage. The ratio of the width of stem to the height of individuals decreased with growth stage developing, and their ratio at proper concentration was larger than that of control. The treatment with 400mg/l for 12 hours had a significant difference with the control, the same case with the concentration of 300mg/l~400mg/l for 16 hours. However, the ratio of the width of stem to the height of individuals was lower than that of control, which was treated with 600mg/l. NAA treatment significantly increased femaleness. The node orders of the first female flower were lower than that of the control by 0.80, 1.37, 1.42, 1.47 respectively, treated by NAA at the concentration of 300mg/l~600mg/l for 12 hours. NAA at the concentration of 300mg/l~600mg/l treated 16 hours,The node orders of first female flower were reduced by 1.44, 1.57, 1.55, 1.68 respectively under the NAA treatment with 300mg/l~600mg/l concentration for 16 hours . The difference was significant. The mean number of female flower was increased significantly even reaching 23.26%. The mean number of male flower was decreased significantly, getting to 24.52%, and the difference reached a significant level. The number of female flower from 1 to 25 node was increased and the number of male flower was decreased. The ratio of female and male flowers had increased. Cucumber seeds were treated with NAA at the fitting concentration for right time, which the number of cucumbers, the rate of forming fruits, the output of cucumbers in prophase and the total yield increased sufficiently. But the effect for weight of each cucumber was inconspicuous, the output in prophase and total output of cucumbers increased obviously. Under the NAA treatment with 300mg/l~400mg/l concentration for 12 hours and with 200mg/l~300mg/l concentration for 16 hours.
