Grassland is the main resources of animal husbandry for the farmers in Inner Mogolia.More than 90% grasslands are degraded.The grassland cannot carry as many livestocks as before, and how we can improve the production of grassland and livestock system is important for sustainable development of grassland and livestock husbandry.In this study, GrassGro Decision Support Systems(DSS) was calibrated using data sets of Xilingol grassland , Five plant species parameters and 9 animal species parameters sets have been set up for the GrassGro DSS, and forbidden period was added into GrassGro as an important management module.The long-time series modeling of Leymus chinensis site station has been analysed.The result shows grassland simulation result fit the ground truth data well, and the biomass of the Leymus chinensis community has evident relation with the precipitation, and fluctuates through the time.Deferred grazing,rotation grazing.continuous grazing and supplement quality have also been simulated using the calibrated GrassGro model, and grazing trial has been conducted in 2005 to calibrated the animal module of GrassGro. A typical household pasture simulation has been made, and the simulation gives some suggestion for the pasture production. The result shows that spring deferred grazing can improve the proportion of dominant species (e.g.Leymus chinensis and Stipa grandis)of the community and decrease the proportion of Cleistogenes squarrossa.Rotational grazing increases the spring biomass, but can not increase the total biomass of the growth season. When continuous grazing, high quality supplement increase the mean live weight of ewes in June, and keep livestocks in good body condition. For the household pasture ,the Stocking rate of 0.7 ewes/ha, spring deferred grazing from 5 Apr to 25 June or from 15 Apr to 25 June and middle supplement quality is reasonable for the economics and environment.
